European patent for Apex - Genetic Transfer Technology

After already accepting the Dutch patent and the German “Gebrauchsmusterschutz”, the European Patent Office issued the patent on the innovative development of the Genetic Transfer Technology (“GTT”) in March 2011, the number is EP 2121339. This proves once more that Apex takes a leading roll as a trendsetter for the graphic industry.

The Genetic Transfer Technology was developed and introduced through a cooperation of Apex and flexo printing operators as well as intensive in-house R & D activities. The metering rolls UniCorr® (corrugated printing), UniFlex® (flexible packaging), UniCoat® (coating industry) und UniFli® (label industry), which are all belonging to the GTT product family, meanwhile have conquered all parts of the flexo printing.

Customers who use GTT rolls have already obtained well-known international printing awards. Moreover Apex got FEFCO’s (European Corrugated Association) “Technical Innovation Award” in 2009.

Meanwhile more than 100 companies worldwide exclusively use GTT rolls in their printing machines instead of conventional banded rolls. Besides the conversion of consisting equipment also the configuration of new printing machines takes place with the new generation of metering rolls that offers a wide range of possibilities concerning to standardization and cost efficiency. Almost half of all rolls that are manufactured at Apex Group of Companies are GTT metering rolls – and counting.

Also in combination with other trend-setting new developments, such as HD-Flexo, the Genetic Transfer Technology shows her technological superiority towards conventional banded rolls in several common projects with customers and leading repro houses. Also at this, GTT ensures growing quality and stabilization in the flexo printing process.
